Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Joan Shea, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

MINISTER’S DECISION EXTENDED:

Big Triangle Pond Mineral Exploration Access Road (Reg 1725)
Proponent: Eagleridge International Ltd.

The Minister of Environment and Conservation and the proponent, Eagleridge International Ltd., have agreed to extend the review period for the Environmental Preview Report (EPR) associated with this proposal. A decision on the acceptability of the EPR is due by May 7, 2014.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Colinet-Rocky River Zip Line and Adventure Park
Proponent: Trevor Linehan (Reg. 1752)

The proponent proposes to construct and operate an adventure park located within the community of Colinet on Route 91, at Rocky River Falls. The adventure park will consist of a 1.75 kilometre hiking trail; a cottage development area; a festival area, stage and drive-in; a 9.6 kilometre ATV/snowmobile trail; a 14-tower zip line; and a marina. Development will occur over a variety of terrain including scrub-forest, black spruce forest, heathland and marsh. The park is expected to increase tourism in the area. Construction is set to begin in the spring of 2014.

The undertaking was registered on April 10, 2014; the deadline for public comments is May 15, 2014; and the minister’s decision is due May 25, 2014.
