Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Joan Shea, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Sleigh Pond ATV Trail                                                        (Reg. 1750)

Proponent: Sleigh Pond Cabin Owner’s Association

The proponent proposes to modify and construct a 10 kilometre all-terrain vehicle (ATV) trail using two existing approved ATV trails with additional routing through established seasonal/snowmobile trails. The trail will begin at an existing ATV access point located approximately four kilometres west on the White Hills woods road near Clarenville. The trail will continue to the Sleigh Pond area. The purpose for the ATV trail is to access the Sleigh Pond cabin owners’ remote cabins and traditional hunting, fishing and trapping areas.

The undertaking was registered on March 21, 2014; the deadline for public comments is April 28, 2014; and the minister’s decision is due by May 5, 2014.
