Carbonear Collegiate to Undergo Roof Replacement
A tender valued at more than $513,000 has been awarded to LSG Construction of Gander to replace the roof at Carbonear Collegiate.
“This is the latest in a series of ongoing repairs and maintenance projects approved as part of a $19.2 million commitment in Budget 2014 to upgrade, improve, and maintain existing school infrastructure throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Since 2004, our government has invested almost $236 million in over 1,900 priority repairs and maintenance projects at schools, providing thousands of students and staff with safer, more modern learning environments.”

Since 2004, more than $25.5 million has been earmarked for school infrastructure in the Carbonear - Harbour Grace district, including:
- The new $22 million Carbonear Academy;
- Over $2 million in upgrades to St. Francis Junior High in Harbour Grace; and
- Over $1 million in upgrades to Persalvic Elementary in Victoria.
More than $681 million has been allocated for K-12 infrastructure since 2004. Thirteen new schools have opened; nine more are in various stages of planning or construction; 27 major extension and renovation projects have been completed, and 10 more are underway.
