Investing in Safe and Healthy Learning Environments

School Infrastructure Information Available Online

For the second consecutive year, the lists of major K-12 school infrastructure project approvals, project expenditures, as well as repairs and maintenance projects at schools throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, are available online.

“Each year the Provincial Government allocates funding for new school construction, extensions, redevelopments and renovations, as well as priority repairs and maintenance projects such as replacement of windows, roofing and siding, plumbing and electrical upgrades and more. We continue to post this information online, allowing easier access to school communities and interested organizations and individuals.”
- The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Education

Project expenditures for the 2013-14 fiscal year (April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014) and project approvals for the 2014-15 fiscal year can now be viewed at: www.ed.gov.nl.ca/edu/k12/repairs/index.html and are also featured on the Provincial Government’s Open Government Initiative website at: //open.gov.nl.ca/. The repairs and maintenance projects outlined are in addition to minor projects undertaken at the school district level.

“Public release of project approvals and expenditures related to school repairs and maintenance is an example of how the Provincial Government is making more information available to residents, businesses and community stakeholders. It is also a continuation of our commitment to improve the organization of this information through our Open Government Initiative, which is making government information easier for people to access.”
- The Honourable Steve Kent, Minister Responsible for the Office of Public Engagement
