Learning Disabilities Association Supported Through $25,000 Grant

As part of a continued, long-standing partnership, the Provincial Government is providing $25,000 in operational funding to support the work of the Learning Disabilities Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (LDANL).

“We recognize the important work undertaken within the K-12 education system by the Learning Disabilities Association, including the provision of assistive technology training, tutoring, counselling services for newly-diagnosed students and families, and an anti-stigma awareness campaign. This is just one example of how a not-for-profit agency and the Provincial Government can work together for a common goal – enabling all of our students to reach their full potential.”
- Honourable Darin King, Minister of Education

The Department of Education also provides support for other LDANL initiatives, such as the Learning Disabilities Mini-Conference for Educators and Parents, held this past fall.

“The Learning Disabilities Association of Newfoundland and Labrador has long enjoyed a positive and productive partnership with the Department of Education, which has enabled our organization to complement the services provided by our schools, and to support our community as they become valuable members of our inclusive society.”
- David Banfield, Executive Director, LDANL

The LDANL incorporated as a not-for-profit agency in 2001 and acts as a provincial voice for individuals with learning disabilities and those who support them. LDANL offers programs to build social competence and independence skills and raises public awareness about learning disabilities.
