Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in Agriculture Literacy Week

As part of Agriculture Literacy Week in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education, will read to students and tour some Little Green Thumb gardens at Rennie’s River Elementary School in St. John’s tomorrow (Tuesday, March 4), beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Little Green Thumbs, part of the Agriculture in the Classroom Program, is an indoor gardening program which provides students with the opportunity to become food producers in their own classrooms, and to learn about caring for plants and the environment which produces the food we eat.

An initiative of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture and their partners – including the Provincial Government – the event includes the launch of the book What’s growing around us? which highlights this province’s agriculture industry.
