Media Advisory: Minister to Launch Early Literacy Program

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education, will officially launch the Early Literacy Foundations (ELF) Program at the Michael Donovan Library, 655 Topsail Road, St. John’s, on Monday, January 27. The event begins at 10:00 a.m.

Minister Jackman will be joined by Kilbride MHA John Dinn, representatives of the Provincial Information and Library Resources Board, and pilot program participants, who will take part in activities involving children up to age three.

The event is taking place to coincide with Family Literacy Day, a national awareness initiative created by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family.
