Public Advisory: Education Facilities on Island to
Remain Closed
Monday and Tuesday
The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education, and the Honourable Kevin O'Brien, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills, announced today that after consultation with power authorities, K-12 school boards and post-secondary officials, all public K-12 schools and campuses of Memorial University and College of the North Atlantic on the island portion of the province will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Students attending private institutions are asked to contact their institutions directly to determine if classes are going ahead.
Public schools and post-secondary institutions in Labrador are not affected and will open on Monday as usual.
The closures are designed to conserve power as Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and Newfoundland Power crews work to stabilize service throughout the province.
