Provincial Government Increases Toddler Rate Under the Child Care Services Subsidy Program

With a continued focus on strengthening child care throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, the Provincial Government will increase the toddler rate under the Child Care Services Subsidy Program. Effective September 1, 2014, the program’s toddler rate will increase from $30 to $33 per day for those children aged 24 months to under 36 months who are availing of regulated child care services.

“Our government remains committed to creating a child care system that provides quality, sufficient and affordable regulated child care spaces for families with young children. Today we are pleased to announce that the toddler rate under the Child Care Services Subsidy Program will be increased from $30 to $33 per day. This increase reflects the higher costs associated with providing child care to toddlers and will help make regulated child care services more affordable for eligible families.”
- The Honourable Sandy Collins, Minister of Child, Youth and Family Services

As a key component of the 10-year child care strategy, Caring For Our Future, the Child Care Services Subsidy Program provides full or partial financial assistance to eligible families who require child care services either through a licensed child care centre or regulated family child care home.
