Auditor General Tables His 2013 Update on Prior Years’ Report Recommendations

Terry Paddon, Auditor General of Newfoundland and Labrador, today tabled his 2013 Update on Prior Years’ Report Recommendations with the Speaker of the House of Assembly.

The Report contains details of the implementation status of 622 recommendations made in Reports on Reviews of Departments and Crown Agencies from 2008 to 2011.

The Office of the Auditor General has the following goals regarding the implementation of recommendations made in prior Reports:

  1. At least 80 per cent of our recommendations would be fully implemented or otherwise resolved within two years of our report date.
    • Only 71 per cent of recommendations made in 2010 and 2011 have been fully implemented or otherwise resolved – therefore the goal has not been met for these years.
    • 87 per cent of recommendations made in 2009 have been fully implemented or otherwise resolved – therefore the goal has been met for this year.
  2. At least 90 per cent of our recommendations would be fully implemented or otherwise resolved within four years of our report date.
    • Only 79 per cent of recommendations made in 2008 have been fully implemented or otherwise resolved – therefore the goal has not been met for this year.

The Report is available on the Office of the Auditor General website at www.ag.gov.nl.ca/ag/reports.htm.
