Public Advisory: Changes to Employment Programs Payment System

The Department of Advanced Education and Skills wishes to advise individuals who receive funding through employment programs under the federal-provincial Labour Market Development Agreement (LMDA) of changes to their payment schedule resulting from a new computer system.

Of the 2,500 individuals receiving benefits, some 1,825 will experience a one-time change to the current payment schedule. Persons scheduled to receive a regular payment on March 13, 2014, will instead receive payment on March 6, 2014, for a one-week period. Payments will then continue for the regular two-week period starting on March 20, 2014. There is no change to the amount of benefits received.

If individuals receive payments through direct deposit, the new system will issue a direct deposit statement to the email address on file.

The Department of Advanced Education and Skills has sent letters to people who have client agreement files funded through the Federal-Provincial Labour Market Development Agreement outlining the new format.

Anyone with questions can contact their Agreement Manager, call toll-free the Labour Market and Career Information Hotline 1-800-563-6600, or visit their nearest Employment Centre.
