Corner Brook Ring Road Receives Over $955,000 in Upgrades
Residents in Corner Brook are seeing construction crews begin work to upgrade the Lewin Parkway (Ring Road) with the issue of tenders valued at more than $955,000 announced today by the Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Transportation and Works.
“I am pleased to be here in Corner Book this morning to announce over $955,000 in transportation upgrades for the Ring Road,” said Minister Davis. “The Provincial Government continues to make strategic transportation investments that focus on encouraging economic growth, job creation and building stronger communities throughout the province.”
Marine Contractors has just started work to repair and repave sections of the Ring Road, with a contract value of $850,080; and Provincial Paving received the contract to repair and repave the intersection of the Ring Road and Mill Road at a value of $105,484. The work under both contracts is expected to be completed this month.
“I am delighted to see this investment being made by the Provincial Government,” said Vaughn Granter, MHA for Humber West. “The City of Corner Brook continues to grow and improve because of infrastructure investments like these road upgrades, which help to enhance the quality of life for everyone.”
Through Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future, Provincial Government spending will exceed $866 million in infrastructure investments to help drive economic activity and generate 5,330 person years of employment.
