$300,000 in New Pavement Announced for Lewisporte
The Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Transportation and Works, joined Wade
Verge, MHA for Lewisporte, today to announce $300,000 in upgrades for Route
340, from the Train Park towards the Middle School in Lewisporte.
“Our provincial roads program is helping us improve infrastructure in dozens
of communities across the province this year,” said Minister Davis. “Our
government continues to make investments like the $300,000 in upgrades for
Lewisporte, to enhance the safety for our motorists throughout Newfoundland
and Labrador.”
The tender contract has been awarded to Penny Paving Ltd. and the expected
start date for the road work is September 15.
“I am very pleased to see that upgrades will soon take place on Route 340,”
said MHA Verge. “This work will help improve the transportation network in
our area and benefit all motorists who travel our roads.”
Through Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future, Provincial Government
spending will exceed $866 million on infrastructure projects and will
generate 5,330 person years of employment. Investments are being made in all
regions of Newfoundland and Labrador in key areas such as roads, bridges,
marine services, health, education, municipal works, buildings and
aquaculture.
