Public Advisory: Changes to Bell Island Ferry Service

The Department of Transportation and Works advises that the MV Flanders has been taken off the Bell Island - Portugal Cove ferry service due to mechanical problems identified with the vessel’s steering.

The MV Flanders will enter dry dock to determine the scope of necessary repairs. Once this assessment is complete, the department will provide a further update regarding the vessel’s expected return to service.

During this time, the MV Beaumont Hamel will operate on the one vessel schedule, with additional staff in place to assist the travelling public with loading.
