Media Advisory: General Rick Hillier to Join Members of The Rooms Board
for Unveiling of First World War Commemorations

General Rick Hillier, former Chief of the Defence Staff, Canadian Forces, will join members of The Rooms Corporation’s Board of Directors to unveil the Where Once They Stood We Stand campaign, a multi-year plan for commemorating Newfoundland and Labrador’s participation in the First World War, in particular the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel. Seamus O’Regan will co-chair the campaign with General Hillier. Artifacts and documents from the First World War collection, as well as items related to a recent donation to The Rooms, will be on display for the media and public to view.

The announcement will take place tomorrow (Wednesday, November 6) at 11:00 a.m. on level three of The Rooms.
