Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in Various Events in Corner Brook

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will be in Corner Brook, May 24 to May 26, to participate in various events.

This evening (Friday, May 24), Minister French will be at the Pepsi Studio, Pepsi Centre, to attend Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador’s 42nd Annual General Meeting and conference. Minister French will address the delegation at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Being held May 23 to 25, the theme of this year’s conference is The Value of Recreation…Priceless! There are a number of sessions and activities scheduled for the conference, including the official launch of June is Recreation Month.

Tomorrow (Saturday, May 25), Minister French along with representatives from Canadian Tire in Corner Brook, will sign a proclamation to launch Jumpstart Day in Newfoundland and Labrador and announce funding for the program. The signing will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Canadian Tire, 4 Murphy Square.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a community-based charitable program that helps financially disadvantaged youth across the country participate in organized sport and recreation.
