Provincial Hoop Championships to Take Place

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will be hosting 57 teams this weekend, April 12-14, in nine provincial competitions throughout the province in the Grade 9 age group. The East Coast Boys A Provincials will feature eight teams at Mobile Junior High in Mobile. The B event also has eight teams and will take place at Leary’s Brook in St. John’s. The eight team C division is scheduled for Brother Rice also in St. John’s.

The East Coast Girls A Provincials will take place at Beaconsfield with six teams, the B division is set for Laval High in Placentia with five teams while the C division will take place at St. Francis of Harbor Grace.

On the west coast, G. C Rowe of Corner Brook will host the five team Girls A division while Avoca Academy of Badger plays host to the six team girls B event. Templeton Academy of Meadows/Corner Brook will host the six team boys division.

Play gets underway on Friday afternoon and will conclude with the championship games Saturday evening or Sunday morning. For a complete list of all teams and schedules please visit the NLBA website at www.nlba.nf.ca or contact the provincial office at 709-576-0247.
