Provincial Basketball Championships Taking Place

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) will be hosting 42 teams in the “Grade Six Universal Corporate Wear” provincials this weekend (February 22-24) in six regions of the province. The West Coast Boys event will feature nine teams at Pasadena Academy in Pasadena, while J.J. Curling of Corner Brook plays host to the girl’s event. On the East Coast St. Matthew’s of St. John’s will host the eight team Girls “A” division, while Holy Cross, also of St. John’s, will host the nine team “B” event. The boys “A” division has six teams entered and will be played at St. Francis of Assisi in Outer Cove while Baltimore School in Ferryland will host the five team “B” division. Play gets under way on Friday afternoon and will conclude with the championship games Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
