Provincial Government Employees Contributing to the Province’s Vibrant Economy

International Awards Acknowledge Outstanding Work of Employees

Employees with the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development have been recognized internationally with three prestigious awards for their work in supporting business and industry in Newfoundland and Labrador. The awards are the Business Retention and Expansion International Award, the Compass International Award and the International Alliance for Women World of Difference 100 Award.

The Business Retention and Expansion International award was presented in June 2012 in Saskatoon to the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development to recognize outstanding work in creating and facilitating innovative programs in support of economic sustainability and growth in the province.

The Ocean Technology Branch of the department was awarded the Compass International Award, presented for outstanding achievement in the advancement of ocean technology and is presented to groups who have shown exemplary contributions to society and within their industries.

In August, the International Alliance for Women awarded Carolann Pollett, an International Trade Officer with the department, with the World of Difference 100 Award for her extraordinary work in advancing women in business. Carolann is one of only 10 recipients from Canada and has been recognized for her work with businesses led by women.

Through sound fiscal management and responsible decisions, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is strengthening the business environment, encouraging the development of innovative industries and building a vibrant economy.
