New Health Centre Supports Strong Healthy Communities
$2.3 Million Health Care Centre Opened in Glovertown
The new Dr. C. V. Smith Memorial Community Health Centre in Glovertown was officially opened today by the Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Health and Community Services.
“Health centres, clinics and hospitals play significant roles in the
vitality of communities in all regions of Newfoundland and Labrador. The new
health centre in Glovertown is an important asset to this community and
reflects our commitment to ensuring that families and residents have access
to health care services.”
- The Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Health and Community Services
The new Dr. C. V. Smith Memorial Community Health Centre is a replacement of the previous facility in Glovertown. The new health centre will continue to offer the same services through its medical clinic, community health office and Telehealth services. In addition, the new building now has a dedicated room for blood collection and a boardroom.
“This is a great announcement for the residents of Glovertown and
surrounding communities. This new, state-of-the-art facility will provide
residents with a level of care and service they expect and deserve. This
speaks directly to the Provincial Government's commitment to health care and
service delivery in rural Newfoundland and Labrador.“
- Sandy Collins, MHA for Terra Nova
The Provincial Government provided funding in Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future for paving and landscaping of the property around the new health centre and for the demolition of the old facility to help complete the project.
“This community health centre is now a modern facility that was designed
to meet the needs of clients and staff. Central Health’s priorities are
access, healthy aging and quality and safety. I am pleased to say that
within this building there are many examples of our commitment to those
strategic directions.”
- Rosemarie Goodyear, Interim CEO, Central Health
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to supporting important social programs, strong communities and the health and well-being of children, families and seniors.
