Buchans Health Centre to Receive New Equipment and Facility Upgrades
The A.M. Guy Memorial Health Centre in Buchans will receive new equipment
and infrastructure upgrades through a Provincial Government investment of
approximately $626,000. The Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Health
and Community Services, was joined by Rosemarie Goodyear, Interim President
and CEO of Central Health, for the announcement today.
“This health care facility provides long-term care, acute inpatient
services, as well as emergency and outpatient services to residents in this
region,” said Minister Sullivan. “Our investment of approximately $626,000
in the A.M. Guy Memorial Health Centre is strengthening our overall health
care system, while ensuring that residents of Buchans and surrounding
communities continue to have access to the essential medical services
provided here.”
The funding announced today, as part of Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure
Future, has been allocated for the replacement of equipment, including beds
and bedside chairs for patient rooms; the purchase of a new wheelchair
accessible bus; as well as, infrastructure upgrades, such as the replacement
of flooring in high-traffic areas and the installation of a central heating,
ventilation and air conditioning system.
“We are pleased to partner with the Provincial Government to enhance the
provision of health care in the Buchans area," said Ms. Goodyear.
“Investments in upgrades to this health centre support patient safety and
ensure access to quality health care services for the people of this area.”
The Provincial Government has invested over $1.2 billion in health care
capital equipment and infrastructure repairs and renovations, including
almost $3.3 million in the Buchans region, since 2004.
