Premier Denounces Association on Twitter
The Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today denounced any association implied by her social media website that is promoting inappropriate or vulgar actions.
"I was dismayed to discover that my Twitter account was in anyway associated with inappropriate websites," said Premier Dunderdale. "I firmly stand by my comments this week, that as members of the House of Assembly we have to uphold a higher standard and have a responsibility to ensure our presence in social media is appropriate and respectful. As such I have ensured that any association my Twitter account has with inappropriate websites has been removed."
The Premier added that violent, insulting and vile comments posted on any social media website are unacceptable. "No one from any group or political party should align themselves with these types of comments. As soon as it was brought to my attention, I immediately took action to remove this disturbing association. What remains troublesome is that we have a similar case where an MHA has chosen to remain a part of a group that has allowed many violent and threatening comments."
