Families and Communities Benefit From Youth Exchange Program
Youth Expand Skills Through Hunting and Fishing Exchange Program
Thirteen-year-old Nicolas Crane is this year’s local recipient of the Atlantic Provinces’ Youth Hunting and Fishing Exchange Program sponsored in part by the Department of Environment and Conservation.
Nicolas and fellow hunting enthusiast, 17-year old Logan Jamieson from Prince Edward Island, switched provinces for a short time to learn about each other’s hunting habitats as recipients of the award.
"This program is a wonderful opportunity for young people to experience these kinds of outdoor activities in a safe and structured environment alongside their mentors and family members. It also gives them a chance to visit other provinces where cultures, hunting and angling opportunities may be little different but still very important to residents and local economies."
- The Honourable Joan Shea, Minister of Environment and Conservation
Earlier this month Nicolas and his father Paul travelled to Prince Edward Island for a three-day goose hunting trip with Hunters Chance Goose Hunting Outfitters. In return, Logan and his father Kirk travelled to Newfoundland and Labrador and spent three days salmon fishing with Newfound Outfitters.
