Ensuring Maximum Benefits for Healthy Families and Vibrant Communities

Recreational Cottage Lots Available On Avalon Peninsula

Seventy-three Crown land recreational cottage lots located in the Salmonier Line area on the Avalon Peninsula are being made available through an upcoming public draw. These lots range from $39,000 - $65,000 and will be sold as Crown grants (outright ownership) with the full price due upon signature of the title document.

“As demand for recreational cottage lots increases on the Avalon Peninsula, we continue to ensure fair access to these recreational cottage lots through our public draw process, while considering the recreational needs of the people of the province in a fair and responsible manner.”
- The Honourable Joan Shea, Minister of Environment and Conservation

Anyone interested in obtaining a lot must pay an application fee of $100 (plus $13 HST), with a $200 document processing fee due at the time a lot is selected. These non-refundable fees will be charged towards the cost of processing the application and preparing title documents.

Applications must be received to the Eastern Regional Lands Office in St. John’s no later than 4:15 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2013. Entry forms received after that deadline will not be eligible.

The Public Draw will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 28, 2013 at the Eastern Regional Lands Office, Howley Building, Higgins Line, St. John’s.

The selection of lots will take place at a public meeting at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Holiday Inn, St. John’s. Attendance by draw entrants or their formally designated proxy representative will be required.
