Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Joan Shea, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Bellevue RV Park
Proponent: Rowe & Company Ltd.                         (Reg. 1731)

The proponent proposes to develop a Recreational Vehicle (RV) Park at Broad Lake, near Bellevue, Avalon Peninsula. The proposed site covers approximately 48 to 52 hectares of land and will include the development of 100 semi-serviced trailer lots. The project includes site access roads, welcome/registration centre, canteen, washrooms, septic system dumping station for RV waste and walking trails. Construction is proposed to begin in spring 2014 and be operational by May 2016.

The undertaking was registered on November 1, 2013; the deadline for public comments is December 6, 2013; and the minister’s decision is due December 16, 2013.

Paradise - ACAN Pre-fabricated Paint Booth
Proponent: ACAN Windows Inc.                         (Reg. 1730)

The proponent proposes to install and operate a pre-fabricated paint booth at ACAN Windows Inc., 1641 Topsail Road, Paradise. The paint booth will be installed in ACAN’s existing facility with no further construction associated with the project. All painting activities will also occur inside the facility. The project is scheduled to begin in fall 2013.

The undertaking was registered on November 1, 2013; the deadline for public comments is December 6, 2013; and the minister’s decision is due by December 16, 2013.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:

Hawkins Brook ATV Trail
Proponent: Mark Collins                         (Reg. 1720)

The project is released subject to the following condition:
• A minimum 30-metre naturally vegetated buffer must be maintained along all waterbodies and wetlands to protect sensitive riparian and aquatic species and their habitat.

Cormack Mink Farm Expansion
Proponent: Na-tallie Ranch Ltd.                         (Reg. 1719)

Forest Management District 14 and 15 Five-Year Operating Plan
Proponent: Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited                         (Reg. 1718)

The project is released subject to the following condition:
• A 30-metre buffer is to be maintained from waterbodies and wetlands except for those crossings that maybe approved under the Water Resources Act.

Burin Peninsula Multi-use Eco-Tourist Trail Loop
Proponent: Burin Peninsula Trail Board Inc.                         (Reg. 1566)
