Work Progresses on CBS Bypass Project

Construction of the Conception Bay South (CBS) bypass continues to advance with the tender call for the construction of an overpass at Scotts Road.

“We are continuing to enhance the road network on the Avalon Peninsula to meet the growing needs of commuters,” said the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works. “Projects such as the CBS bypass, the Torbay bypass and the Team Gushue Highway extension are helping to form an improved highway system, which will meet current and future traffic demands.”

This tender includes the construction of a two-lane overpass connecting Scotts Road over the CBS bypass, Route 2.

“Our province has seen unprecedented prosperity and growth in our communities, which has led to more people on our roads,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation and MHA for Conception Bay South. “This project will help ease traffic flow in the area and once complete, the CBS bypass will be an integral part of the transportation system that is being developed throughout the region.”

The CBS bypass extension is cost-shared by the Provincial and Federal Governments through the Canadian Strategic Infrastructure Fund. This project is part of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s unprecedented commitment to improving and upgrading roads and bridges through its multi-year infrastructure investments valued in excess of $5 billion.
