Public Advisory: Alternate Plan Outlined for MV Northern Ranger Service

The public is advised that while the passenger ferry service provided by MV Northern Ranger is suspended until further notice, the contractor, CAI Nunatsiavut Marine Inc., will continue to provide a scheduled air service from Happy Valley-Goose Bay to ports north to Nain.

The following arrangements for chartered flights are now confirmed:

For passengers travelling throughout the week, arrangements can be made by contacting CAI Nunatsiavut Marine Inc.

Freight shipments will be accommodated by the MV Astron, the vessel operated by Labrador Marine Inc. currently providing freight service to coastal Labrador.

For further information and bookings for both freight and passenger service, contact CAI Nunatsiavut Marine Inc. at 1-877-896-7075 within Canada or 1-506-858-9963 internationally, or by visiting www.labradorferry.ca.

On September 4, the Department of Transportation and Works announced that technicians discovered the gearbox of the MV Northern Ranger required repair, and so the vessel was taken out of service.
