Public Advisory: MV Northern Ranger Ferry Service Suspended

The Department of Transportation and Works advises that the passenger ferry service provided by CAI Nunatsiavut Marine (CAI) via the MV Northern Ranger have been suspended until further notice. Technicians discovered that the gearbox of the vessel requires repairs, and so it became necessary to take the vessel out of service. At present, it is expected that the vessel will be out of service for a period of six weeks.

CAI is actively seeking a replacement vessel for the MV Northern Ranger, with the assistance of the Provincial Government. CAI will transport all passengers currently aboard the MV Northern Ranger to their respective destinations via a chartered aircraft beginning tomorrow morning. Additional air service is being arranged by CAI as a temporary measure to assist passengers who currently hold bookings with the MV Northern Ranger until a replacement vessel can be secured.

Individuals seeking further information can contact CAI Nunatsiavut Marine Inc. at 1-877-896-7075 within Canada or 1-506-858-9963 internationally, or by visiting www.labradorferry.ca.
