Work Continues on the CBS Bypass
One of the most significant road projects undertaken by the Provincial Government will advance this summer, as the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Work, announced paving and sub-grade work today on the CBS Bypass from the Legion Road Interchange towards Seal Cove.
“The CBS Bypass is of great importance to many commuters who travel throughout the northeast Avalon,” said Minister Hedderson. “This new asphalt will enhance a vital link in the provincial transportation network, and support the transportation needs of one of the fastest growing areas in the province.”
The tender will close on August 16, and work is expected to begin in September.
“I am pleased to see this important roadwork taking place in one of the most well travelled areas in the province,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation and MHA for Conception Bay South. “This is further evidence of the strategic investments this government is making in key transportation infrastructure throughout the province.”
Budget 2012: People and Prosperity provides $165.1 million to enhance provincial road and bridge infrastructure, including $60.1 million in continued investment in the Provincial Roads Improvement Program. This investment is supplemented by $60 million in Federal Government funding, for a total investment in 2012-13 of $225.1 million.
