Southern Shore to Receive Road Work
Road improvements continue to take place throughout the province with the announcement of new asphalt between Cappahayden and Chance Cove Park.
“Roads throughout the province receive important upgrades and improvements through our annual Provincial Road Improvement Program, and this work is another example of how this program is maintaining our transportation network,” said the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works. “The roads that connect rural communities are a priority for my department, as evidenced by significant investments year over year.”
The Department of Transportation and Works recently called a tender to pulverize and repave 1.7 kilometres of Route 10 between Cappahayden and Chance Cove Park.
“I am very pleased to see new asphalt laid in this section of the region,” said the Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development and MHA for Ferryland. “This road improvement will not only benefit area residents, but also the local tourism industry.”
Budget 2012: People and Prosperity provides $165.1 million to enhance provincial road and bridge infrastructure, including $60.1 million in continued investment in the Provincial Roads Improvement Program. This investment is supplemented by $60 million in Federal Government funding, for a total investment in 2012-13 of $225.1 million.
