Rut Repairs for TCH and Veteran’s Memorial Highway

Sections of the Trans Canada Highway (TCH) on the Avalon Peninsula and sections of Veteran’s Memorial Highway will undergo rut repairs as the Department of Transportation and Works continues to invest in provincial road infrastructure.

“This government makes a substantial investment each year in the Roads Improvement Program to maintain and repair our provincial transportation network,” said the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works. “These areas are some of the highest-travelled sections of highway in our province. These repairs will help improve the driving experience of many commuters.”

Sections of the TCH between the Holyrood Access Road and Whitbourne totalling approximately 22 lane kilometres, and sections of Route 75, Veteran’s Memorial Highway, between Bay Roberts and Carbonear, totalling approximately 6.6 lane kilometres, will undergo repair.

Budget 2012: People and Prosperity provides $165.1 million to enhance provincial road and bridge infrastructure, including $60.1 million in continued investment in the Provincial Roads Improvement Program. This investment is supplemented by $60 million in Federal Government funding, for a total investment in 2012-13 of $225.1 million.
