New Playground Area to be Developed in Dildo
Young people in Dildo will soon be jumping, swinging, and sliding in an
upgraded play space as a result of $15,000 provided through the Provincial
Government’s Community Capital Grant Program. The funds will be used towards
the purchase of a new playground structure.
“The Provincial Government assists communities such as Dildo in the
development of recreation facilities and outdoor areas,” said the Honourable
Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “With the new
outdoor play space, residents in Dildo will have a place to participate in
fun, physical activities.”
The Dildo Recreation Committee is among several community-based
organizations, municipalities, schools and recreation commissions which have
received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure
through these latest Community Capital Grant Program investments.
“This funding will greatly assist the newly-formed Dildo Recreation
Committee to achieve their goal of developing a new playground,” said MHA
Calvin Peach. “I am delighted to see that the Provincial Government is
supporting this project.”
Budget 2012: People and Prosperity provides $8.6 million to support
recreation and sport in the province. Since the launch of the Provincial
Government’s recreation and sport strategy,
Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador, (2007) more than $70 million
has been committed to recreational and sport infrastructure, programming,
and athlete development throughout the province.
