Provincial Basketball Teams at Nationals

The Provincial Midget (U15) Boys’ team is two and three at the national championships in Sherbrook, QC. The team was defeated by Nova Scotia 76 to 65 on Friday. Colin Connors and Liam Dunphy were the top NL scorers of this game with 12 points each. The NL team defeated PEI on Saturday 49 to 41 to get ninth place overall in the tournament; Brandon Bambrick was the NL top scorer with 13 points. Ontario defeated Quebec 85 to 60 to win the gold medal, while British Columbia defeated Manitoba to win the bronze.

The Juvenile (U17) Boys team is three and two at the national championships in Sherbrook, QC. The team defeated Prince Edward Island 88 to 70 on Friday; Mitchell Hearn was the top scorer with 30 points. On Saturday NL defeated the Northwest Territories 87 vs. 59; Mitchell Hearn was the top scorer again with 30 points. New Brunswick defeated NL 85 to 53 on Thursday. Stephen Ryan was the top scorer of the game with 14 points.

The Provincial Midget (U15) Girls’ team defeated Prince Edward Island 77 to 65 on Monday. Kelsey Moore was the top NL scorer of this game with 21 points. The NL team plays Nova Scotia later today.

The Juvenile (U17) Girls’ defeated by Prince Edward Island78 to 67 on Monday; Sarah Hickman was the top scorer with 16 points. The NL team faces Manitoba today.
