Provincial Basketball Teams to Compete at Nationals

The Provincial Midget (U15) and Canada Games / Juvenile (U17) Girls’ Programs travel to Fredericton, New Brunswick, this weekend to compete in the national championships. Games will commence on Monday, August 6, and will conclude on Saturday, August 11, with the championship games.

The U-15 girls team will compete against Prince Edward Island on August 6 and Nova Scotia on August 7; while the U-17 girls team will compete against Prince Edward Island on August 6 and the Manitoba on August 7. Remaining games will be determined by the results of the first two games.

Members of the girls’ U-15 team include: Heather Pike of Dunville; Stacey Leawood, Brittany Rose, Brooklyn Short of Mount Pearl; Maria Colbert, Julie Croucher, Kathleen Dyer, Geana George, Kelsey Moore, Tiffany Morgan, Kayla Thompson, Sydney Van De Wiel. Coaches for this program are Geoff Moore (Head Coach) and Cathy Croucher (Manager) of St. John’s and Robyn Constantine (Assistant Coach) of Dunville.

Athletes travelling to the competition for the girls’ U-17 team include: Janet Lee of the Goulds; Morgan Baker-Tucker, Jennifer MacDonald of Mount Pearl; Jane Baird, Maria Carroll, Molly Dawson, Sydney Ezekiel, Sarah Hickman, Rosie Stanoev, Sarah Tobin of St. John’s; Kelsey McGrath of Torbay; Sydnie Power of Trepassey. Coaches accommodating the teams include Head Coach, Doug Partridge; Assistant Coach, Judy Byrne of St. John’s; and Manager, Stephanie Dinn of the Goulds.
