Rising Tide Theatre Supported by Cultural Funding

Seasons in the Bight 2012, produced by the Rising Tide Theatre, is well underway in Trinity thanks in part to a $75,000 grant provided by the Provincial Government’s Cultural Economic Development Program.

“The funding will assist in the production of this wonderful festival showcasing incredible theatre and celebrating our culture,” said the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “This dynamic festival has entertained audiences for almost 35 years. I commend the efforts of organizers and wish them the best for another successful season.”

Seasons in the Bight 2012 will run until September 2. For more information and a detailed schedule, visit www.risingtidetheatre.com

“Rising Tide Theatre continues to entertain, inform and delight audiences as it reminds us of our rich culture and heritage,” said the Honourable Ross Wiseman, MHA for Trinity North. “I am delighted the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador continues to support the promotion of our province’s culture.”

Donna Butt, Artistic and Executive Director of Rising Tide Theatre, is pleased with the Provincial Government’s continued support.

“Rising Tide is truly grateful to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador for their appreciation and support of our endeavour,” said Ms. Butt. “Investment by the Provincial Government allows us to continue to provide the kind of theatrical experience that has become synonymous with Rising Tide. This endorsement allows us to continue to be a regional economic generator and employer, a mentor of student performers, and to produce works that celebrate our heritage and our culture.”

Budget 2012: People and Prosperity provides $2.9 million through its Cultural Economic Development Program to support arts, cultural, and heritage initiatives in the province. Projects are selected based on the strength of the business plan, vision, and potential development within the sector.
