New App Makes NL Tourism Mobile

Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism has gone mobile with the launch of the official Newfoundland and Labrador Travel Guide iPhone app. The Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, was at the Notre Dame Junction Provincial Visitor Information Centre today to make the announcement.

“With the ever-changing and evolving world of social media, we are very are pleased to be able to offer this easy-to-use, interactive app which is available for iPhone and iPad,” said Minister Dalley. “The Newfoundland and Labrador Travel Guide iPhone app is a free on-the ground trip planning tool which provides an extensive and current source of Newfoundland and Labrador travel planning information. Whether seeking on-the-spot updates on current happenings such as festivals and events or iceberg and whale sightings, this app has it all.”

App features include:

The app is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. The app requires iOS 4.2 or later.

The app is available on the iTunes store by simply searching Newfoundland and Labrador Travel Guide. It can also be downloaded from: www.newfoundlandlabrador.com/PlanYourTrip/MobileApp

Budget 2012: People and Prosperity – Responsible Investments for a Secure Future invested more then $18.5 million to implement tourism initiatives and programming, including $13 million for tourism marketing.
