Provincial Basketball Teams to Compete at Nationals

The Provincial Midget (U15) and Canada Games / Juvenile (U17) Boys’ Programs travel to Sherbrook, Quebec, this weekend to compete in the national championships. Games will commence on Tuesday, July 31, and will conclude on Sunday, August 5, with the championship games.

The U-15 boy’s team will compete against Alberta on July 31 and Prince Edward Island on August 1; while the U-17 boy’s team will compete against Quebec on July 31 and the Northwest Territories on August 1. Remaining games will be determined by the results of the first two games.

Members of the boys’ U-15 team include: Brandon Bambrick, Liam Bennett, Colin Connors, Jonathan Conway, Lucas Downey, Sean Hickey, Cole Long, Joshua McShane, Ryan Spurrell, Brett Warren and Brent Williams of St. John’s and Liam Dunphy of Mount Pearl. Coaches for this program are Mark English (Head Coach) Yasir Khan (Assistant Coach) and Mark Woodland (Manager) of St. John’s.

Athletes travelling to the competition for the boys’ U-17 team include, Graham Kenney of Corner Brook; Brett Bouzane of Flatrock; Daniel Foo of Massey Drive; Mitchell Hearn of Mount Carmel; Nicholas Frew and Stephen Ryan of Mount Pearl; and David Grainger, Christian Greenland, Curtis Mullowney, Andrew Murray, Sam Prowse and Michael Smith of St. John’s. Coaches accommodating the teams include Head Coach, Erica Kennedy, Assistant Coach, Ian Coultas; and Manager, Devon O’Grady.
