Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador Receives Cultural Economic Grant

Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador, producers of the 2012 Gros Morne Theatre Festival in Cow Head, has received $75,000 in operational support through the Provincial Government’s Cultural Economic Development Program.

“The Provincial Government is pleased to support Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador and their production of the annual Gros Morne Theatre Festival,” said the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “For more than 15 years, this exciting festival has provided entertaining theatre to audiences of all ages and has generated significant tourism activity in the region. I encourage residents and visitors in the area to take in one of the many great performances scheduled this season.”

The Gros Morne Theatre Festival runs until September 20.

“I thank the Provincial Government for continued support, on behalf of Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador and the 50 artists, technicians, and front of house staff who work at our Gros Morne Theatre Festival,” said Gaylene Buckle, General Manager, Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador. “Besides the positive employment and economic impact, we cannot forget the art and the preservation of our culture and history created through the plays at the festival, like the world renowned Tempting Providence.
