Upgrades Coming to the Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove Softball Field

The Town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove has received a $15,000 grant provided through the Provincial Government’s Community Capital Grants Program to purchase safety netting for the town’s softball field.

“As a government, we are pleased to provide funding to improve community recreation facilities and outdoor areas,” said the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “With this community project moving forward, residents will have an improved outdoor area for participating in healthy and fun outdoor activities.”

The Town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove is among several community-based organizations, municipalities, and recreation commissions which have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.

“There is a long tradition of sport involvement in this area,” said Kevin Parsons, MHA for Cape St. Francis. “These upgrades will improve the sport venue and provide a better experience for everyone involved.”

Budget 2012: People and Prosperity provides $8.6 million to support recreation and sport in the province. Since the launch of the Provincial Government’s recreation and sport strategy, Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador (2007), more than $70 million has been committed to recreational and sport infrastructure, programming, and athlete development throughout the province.
