The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Eastern Canadian Club Championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will be sending five club teams to the Eastern Canadian Boys and Girls championships in Charlottetown, PEI, this week.

The Goulds Hoopsters and the MAX Academy will represent the province at the U14 girl’s championships while Cowan Heights Youth Basketball League of St. John’s won the right to represent the province in the U13 girls division. MAX Academy of St. John’s will represent the province in both the U13 and 14 boy’s age groups.

A total of 32 teams representing provinces east of Ontario will be competing for the titles in their respective divisions.

Play is set to commence at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, and will conclude with the championship games slated for Sunday, July 1.
