All Six Provincial Arts and Culture Centres Offering Online Ticketing
Patrons of all six provincial Arts and Culture Centres throughout Newfoundland and Labrador can now purchase tickets online. The last phase of the online ticketing system was completed in March when the Labrador West Arts and Culture Centre began offering the service.
“Since going live with the first centre in St. John’s last August, the service is proving to be successful with approximately half of all ticket sales taking place online,” said the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “It was necessary to implement the service to better meet the demand of clients and to stay competitive in the marketplace. Online purchasing is now a routine practice for many consumers.”
People who wish to do so can still purchase tickets at the box office. Wait times at the wicket for popular shows have been cut down significantly.
The new system is also useful from a marketing perspective because it can retain information provided from patrons allowing them to receive updates about shows of genres that are of particular interest to them.
The Arts and Culture Centres, funded by the Provincial Government, are located in Labrador West, Corner Brook, Grand Falls-Windsor (Gordon Pinsent Centre for the Arts), Stephenville, Gander (Joseph R. Smallwood Arts and Culture Centre) and St. John’s. To find out more about upcoming programming and to purchase tickets visit artsandculturecentre.com
Since the cultural strategy Creative Newfoundland and Labrador: The Blueprint for Development and Investment in Culture was introduced in 2006, the Provincial Government has invested over $56 million in new funding in the cultural and heritage sectors.
