Residents Encouraged to Attend SnowWest 2012

Beginning today (Wednesday, March 21), residents on the west coast of the province and those visiting the region will have the opportunity to participate in SnowWest, a four-day festival running until Saturday, March 24. Scheduled events include a variety of outdoor activities, live entertainment, and much more.

“SnowWest is a superb example of how we are working to highlight Newfoundland and Labrador as a multi-season tourism destination,” said the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “An event such as this is a great way to showcase the western region, and to explore the range of activities available for residents and visitors at this time of the year. SnowWest has something for everyone including snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and other family activities.”

The Provincial Government provided the destination management organization Go Western Newfoundland with $15,000 to support SnowWest.

“SnowWest features four days of action-packed activities and evening entertainment,” said Maria Matthews, Chair of Go Western Newfoundland. “The event is a celebration of the great outdoors for all to enjoy. We hope the event continues to be a date marked in people’s calendars for years to come."
