Minister Reminds Public of Road Safety During Holiday Weekend

The Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Service NL, would like to remind the public to practise safe driving habits over the Victoria Day weekend.

“This weekend we will see thousands of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians on the road, travelling to cabins, campgrounds and parks,” said Minister Davis. “Road safety is always important but particularly during Road Safety Week, which is being held May 15-21. We all share the roadway, and drivers, passengers and other road users must work together to reduce the number of serious accidents and injuries.”

Drivers are reminded of the following:

Minister Davis will be participating in a number of traffic stops this week along with law enforcement officials and Highway Enforcement Officers from Service NL.

“Both the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will increase their patrols this week, and will be conducting additional enforcement activities and roadside checks across the province,” said Minister Davis. “I encourage all drivers to use this week as a time to look at their driving habits, to ensure that they are doing everything they can to keep our roads safe.”
