The following has been posted on behalf of the Municipal Assessment Agency:

Property Assessment Notices Mailed

Property assessment notices for 224 municipalities (excluding the City of St. John’s) will be mailed on October 1, 2012, the Municipal Assessment Agency announced today. Property owners with questions or concerns about their assessed values are encouraged to contact the Municipal Assessment Agency by calling toll-free, 1-877-777-2807.

The Assessment Act, 2006 requires that assessed values for 2013 will be determined using January 1, 2011 as a reference date. Therefore, the values on the assessment notices for 2013 will reflect the property value as of January 1, 2011, in accordance with the legislation.

The Municipal Assessment Agency, a Crown-owned corporation, governed by a representative board of directors, is the entity responsible to provide real property assessments under the Assessment Act, 2006.
