Daylight Saving Time to Begin March 11

Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador are reminded that Daylight Saving Time comes into effect this weekend. At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 11, clocks should be moved ahead one hour.

“All residents of the province are asked to move their clocks forward by one hour as we move into Daylight Saving Time this Sunday,” said the Honourable Kevin O’Brien, Minister of Municipal Affairs. “As we once again prepare for spring it is a good time for everyone to check safety devices, such as smoke detectors and carbon monoxide monitors, located in their home for proper functioning. As well, a family discussion regarding an emergency plan is also recommended.”

Daylight Saving Time will remain in effect until 2:00 a.m. November 4, 2012, when the province will return to Newfoundland Standard Time.
