Public Advisory: PARE Preparation Sessions Get Underway

The Department of Justice, in partnership with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), is holding a number of information and practice sessions designed to familiarize individuals with the Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE) test.

Sessions will be held across the province to provide future applicants of positions within Fish and Wildlife Enforcement or the RNC an opportunity to prepare for the PARE testing. The PARE is a physical abilities test that measures the capacity to perform physical tasks often encountered in these positions, namely: walking, running, jumping; climbing, vaulting, lifting; and carrying, pulling, pushing.

Future requirements for individuals interested in a career in enforcement with the Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Division, Department of Justice, will include a physical fitness component, as assessed by PARE testing (and as used by the RNC in its applicant assessment process). Fish and Wildlife Enforcement will also have an information table and staff available at the PARE preparation sessions to discuss the nature of this particular enforcement work.

Sessions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the following locations:

Sessions are free of charge for anyone interested in attending. For further information, call the Department of Justice at 709-729-7906.
