Senior Appointments Made for Office of the Public Trustee

The Honourable Felix Collins, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, today announced senior appointments that will further enhance the Office of the Public Trustee. John Baird has been appointed Public Trustee and John Goodland has been appointed Deputy Public Trustee.

“Mr. Baird and Mr. Goodland have extensive and considerable experience in estates administration both when these matters were carried out through the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador and since the establishment of the newly created Office of the Public Trustee in 2011,” said Minister Collins. “They have ensured that there has been a seamless transition for current clients and the public. I congratulate them on their appointments.”

Mr. Baird has served as Acting Public Trustee since June 10, 2011, and Mr. Goodland has served as Assistant Estates and Trust Administrator with the office since March 2010.

The Office of the Public Trustee administers and protects the financial interests of vulnerable individuals, including minors and dependent adults. The office also administers the estates of deceased and missing persons, as well as charities.
