Creating a More Dynamic Company for the Future

With the focus on the development of its workforce and increasing its global market presence, Grand Bank-based Dynamic Air Shelters Ltd. will use a Provincial Government investment of $50,000 to conduct staff training and improve its operations.

“Businesses throughout Newfoundland and Labrador are realizing the significant benefits associated with improving processes and investing in their workforce,” said the Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development. “In addition to increased productivity, companies become more competitive and profitable. As a government, we will continue our partnership with companies like Dynamic Air Shelters to innovate and diversify and explore new markets and new opportunities. This is an investment in the future growth of the company and the local economy.”

Dynamic Air Shelters Ltd. will engage the services of Advanta Industrial Design Group Inc. to conduct staff training and improve the company’s design and production processes. The company will also upgrade its computer systems and drafting software program.

“Today’s announcement continues to demonstrate our government’s commitment to business expansion, growth and diversification on the Burin Peninsula,” said the Honourable Darin King, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture and MHA for the District of Grand Bank. “This approval will assist with equipment upgrades and training for workers that will position Dynamic Air Shelters for continued growth in the marketplace.”

Dynamic Air Shelters Ltd. manufactures promotional, industrial, first-response, and blast resistant shelters for a wide range of clients including the military and oil and gas companies. Its products are exported and deployed around the world in markets such as Asia, the Middle East, North America, and the Caribbean. The company has 75 full and part-time employees at its Grand Bank production facility, with sales offices located in Calgary and South Carolina.

“The investment by Innovation, Business and Rural Development enabled Dynamic Air Shelters to initiate a $250,000 program to improve design and production processes, upgrade our computer systems and software and, more importantly, allowed us to invest in our employees, our most valuable asset,” said Kay Riggs, Vice President of Operations, Dynamic Air Shelters. “The investment will help ensure our employees have the skills and access to the technology needed to grow and sustain the company into the future.”

This initiative was funded through the Provincial Government’s Workplace Skills Enhancement Program and the Business and Market Development Program.
