Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in Launch
of the International Year of Co-operatives

The Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, will speak at a reception to mark the International Year of Co-operatives. The event is taking place today (Thursday, January 12) at 5:00 p.m. at the Newfoundland Independent Filmmakers Co-operative, located at 40 Kings Road, St. John’s.

The reception, hosted by the Newfoundland-Labrador Federation of Co-operatives, is part of the Canadian launch taking place today in 14 cities across the country.

The United Nations has declared 2012 as the International Year of Co-operatives to create greater awareness of the economic and social contribution of co-operatives and support their continued growth.
