Media Advisory: Sunrise Flag Raising to Celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

To mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Honourable Ross Wiseman, will participate in the raising of Her Majesty’s Personal Canadian Flag in front of the House of Assembly at sunrise (approx 7:21 a.m.) on Monday, February 6. The ceremony will commence at 7:10 a.m.

The Speaker will be joined by Commander Larry Trim, Commanding Officer of Canadian Forces Station St. John's, a flag party made up of Canadian Forces members representing the Army, Airforce and Navy, as well as the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Band. Members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will also be present.
